A pioneer of polypropylene piping systems
aquatherm GmbH is a family-owned company founded by Gerhard Rosenberg on 17 August 1973 in Attendorn, Germany; today it has around 500 employees and partners in more than 70 countries. Pipes and fittings are produced from its own fusiolen PP-R / PP-RCT raw material, and production takes place exclusively in Germany (Attendorn and Ennest) — 100% made in Germany.
The Attendorn plant houses more than 15,500 m² of extrusion area, injection moulding, prefabrication and R&D laboratories; the Ennest plant turns around 9 million brass and aluminium parts a year. Product lines are colour-coded: green for drinking water, blue for heating and cooling, red for fire protection, black for surface heating and cooling, energy for pre-insulated lines.

aquatherm or generic PPRC?
In Türkiye "PPRC pipe" is a generic material name: every PP-R (polypropylene random copolymer) pipe falls into this class. aquatherm is also a PP-R system; the difference lies not in the material name but in the system as a whole:
- Raw material: all pipes and fittings are made from the same fusiolen PP-R / PP-RCT, so weld compatibility is guaranteed.
- Fibre reinforcement (MF / MF RP): expansion is reduced by at least 75%, support spacing is wider and large diameters are possible in mains and risers (up to 315 mm in the green series, 630 mm in blue).
- Documentation: approvals such as DVGW, SKZ, WRAS and NSF and published pressure-temperature tables, extrapolated to a 50-year design life.
- Warranty: a 10-year insured warranty, up to EUR 20 million per claim.
In short, the difference between low-cost PPRC and aquatherm is not between two pipes doing the same job, but between a documented system and an undocumented material.

Which SDR class is the aquatherm PN25 pipe?
The product referred to as "PN25 fibre pipe" in Türkiye is aquatherm green SDR 9 MF RP (32–315 mm) and, in small diameters, the SDR 7.4 MF series. aquatherm publishes SDR classes and pressure-temperature tables, not PN ratings; any PN equivalence must be verified.

What is the welding temperature and which machine is used?
Socket fusion is carried out at the temperature and times given in the manufacturer's installation instructions; a 20 mm pipe is welded in about 5 seconds. Hand tools are used for 20–63 mm, a welding machine for 50–125 mm and butt welding above 160 mm.
What is the service life of aquatherm pipe?
Pressure-temperature values are calculated for 50 years of operation; the manufacturer states a service life of more than 50 years.
What is the aquatherm warranty?
A 10-year insured manufacturer's warranty: in the first five years up to EUR 20 million per claim and EUR 40 million per year. A documented pressure test and installation by a trained installer are required.
How does aquatherm differ from other PP-R brands?

How much does the pipe expand compared with copper or steel?
Fibre-layer (MF) pipe expands roughly twice as much as copper or steel; PP and other plastics without a fibre layer can reach 5 to 10 times the expansion of metal. The fibre layer does not bring expansion down to metal level, but it comes close, so far less compensation (loops, offsets, expansion joints) is needed.
Is aquatherm pipe affected by corrosion or scaling?
Polypropylene does not corrode and, unlike many other materials, is not affected by scaling. It also does not support microbiological growth.
Do aquatherm pipes have an oxygen barrier?
Standard aquatherm pipe has no oxygen barrier; oxygen permeability is very low and has not been found to cause problems. Adding oxygen scavenging or water treatment to protect mechanical equipment does not affect the pipe in most applications; suitability of the treatment can be confirmed with the chemical enquiry form.
Can the pipe be damaged by sunlight?
Long-term regular UV exposure fades the pipe and weakens its physical integrity. Pipe may be stored outdoors unprotected for a maximum of 6 months. Factory bags protect against UV and should stay in place until installation. Permanent wrapping, insulation or UV-protective paint can be used.
What lengths are the pipes supplied in?
aquatherm blue: 4 m or 5.8 m depending on diameter. aquatherm green: 4 m or 5.8 m depending on diameter. aquatherm red: 5.8 m depending on diameter.
Can aquatherm pipe be used with copper in a heating system?
Yes; aquatherm blue is suitable for heating systems regardless of other metal (copper, steel) components. The guidance aquatherm publishes on copper with aquatherm green concerns domestic hot water recirculation (DHWR) systems and does not apply to heating circuits. DHWR systems are continuously fed with fresh chlorinated water; closed heating circuits need very little make-up water, chlorine dissipates quickly and copper ions are not replenished. Most heating systems also use corrosion inhibitors where needed, and the design avoids water velocities that would cause erosion or corrosion of copper components.
Can scrap material be recycled, and does anyone actually do it?
With suitable technical infrastructure, scrap can be recycled up to 100%. It is not used to make new pipe but to manufacture new polypropylene products.
